About the Bachelor of Music
The Bachelor of Music program is a three year, full time degree that offers intensive pre-professional music training, including one-to-one tuition in vocal and instrumental performance and composition, a wide variety of ensemble opportunities, and cutting- edge, focused studies in music history, compositional craft and technology.
The BMus enables students to specialise in composition and musicology/ ethnomusicology, and to design a course structure appropriate to their interests and vocational aspirations.
Honours
Many students will proceed into a fourth year of highly specialised music-only study, to graduate with the degree of Bachelor of Music with Honours
Sequential Degrees
The Bachelor of Music can also be studied sequentially with another degree. In a 5 year time commitment, students can qualify for two bachelor degrees, graduating with (for example) a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Science.
Pathways after graduation
On completing the Bachelor of Music or the Bachelor of Music with Honours you will have the option either to progress into one of the University's professional coursework masters programs, to go directly into employment or to undertake further study in a range of programs including the Master of Music and the PhD.
